Luthien’s Kittens at 5 weeks!
In one week the kittens have completely adjusted to their new surroundings in our bedroom with mom (Luthien). The last 2 weeks of athletic training have been successful, and now all 3 kittens know how to climb up on the bed. While Luthien politely sleeps on top of my feet, her 3 babies are likely to sleep on our heads, beneath our noses or wedged between pillows. Everyone is growing and developing well. Raw chicken has been completely incorporated into the diet, and mom’s milk is just a wonderful and tasty “security blanket”. Getting up in the middle of the night (for the humans), now requires turning on the bedroom light to avoid stepping on nocturnal kittens at play… Meanwhile, as there was a moment between rain storms — the kittens profited to have their photos taken outside in the garden! Taking photos of these kittens inside on the sofa? Impossible! These little babies don’t stay still long enough to focus the camera! So. Time for a new strategy: one by one, each kitten was introduced to our bistro table outside in the garden. With so many new sights and smells and sounds to be taken in, at last I had just enough time to focus the camera! All the kittens are in the fuzzy “camouflage” stage right now (continuing into the 4th month of life) so it’s harder to see — but their markings continue to develop nicely as well as their little bodies… Come look at these purring, balls of fluff (but EGAD! don’t let them see your bare toes!)
