A Step towards the Wild!

Bengal breeders from around the world who appreciate the importance of wild type in our cats — nod their heads in recognition to the remarkable work done by Judith Lindeman of Awagati Bengals in the USA. Her cattery is a by-word for an astonishing level of wild type and her work has been an inspiration to countless breeders. It’s no surprise then, that we are “over-the-moon” about our plans to be acquiring a 4-year-old, proven, sweet-tempered queen with an exceptional head and a brilliant white belly! “Awagati Brown Sugar” should be relocating to France sometime during the autumn of 2008, and how excited we shall be to see what surprises she may hold in store for us in attempting to improve our own wild type, here at Ashanti Bengals. Having this girl, will feel like guarding a precious gem. We are very grateful for the friendship and cooperation of the breeders involved (Awagati & Casarocca) who trust us enough to treat these bloodlines with the respect and protection they deserve.

Look who showed up at our house!

A Calcatta Custom Made grandson! Wow!

We look forward to seeing what sort of “paint job impact” this lovely, well-structured male will have during his short summer sojourn with us in France. Casarocca Arazzo Dorato is a glittered, clear-coated boy with a lovely, flowing pattern of well-contrasted rosettes. He’s a big boned,with nice type and a sweet personality. AND, so far, still has a whited Trollspotting/Casarocca belly… Many thanks to Marc King of Casarocca Bengals, for allowing this lovely male to visit us for a short while!

Actuellement nous sommes heureux de vous offrir le choix entre 4 chatons bengal né le 5 Mai 2008, venant de deux portées différentes. Tous les chatons sont ”Brown Spotted Tabby”, mais leur père et un “silver spotteed tabby”, comme vous pouvez le voir sur la photo. Cliquez sur la photo ci-contre pour voir plus de photos et le pedigré. Ce mâle appartient à notre ami et collègue d’Italie, Marc King.

Les Chatons d’Aphrodite à 12 Semaines!

It’s finally the age where the babies are ready to start going home with their new owners. Everyone has been well socialized with adult cats, small dogs and young children. We’re very proud of the personality of these little guys — they never stop purring (except to EAT, of course!)!

Les Chatons de Luthien à 9 Semaines!

We love these wild-looking little jungle cats! All three seem to have facial qualities which remind us of the early-generation Bengals (which means much more like an Asian Leopard Cat!) Thankfully, it’s only an illusion — because they are as sweet as sugar. At 9 weeks, the two brown spotted tabbies are really “in the fuzzies” — but we believe that soon their patterns will LEAP OUT again. Danae, the little marble, is not fuzzy at all — and she is beginning to open up and show the stained-glass effect that we think will develop in those dark, dark swirls… Come see the photos! (more…)

Les Chatons d’Aphrodite à 11 Semaines!

Les règles sont : ne jamais s’arrêter de ronronner, attaquer tout ce qui bouge et dormir sur autant de frère et sœur que possible en une fois. Oh. Et, essayer de manger TOUTE la nourriture avant que les autres ne puissent en avoir un PEU ! Quelques chatons commencent à sortir de la période floue maintenant et il commence à être possible de cerner leur apparence d’adulte. Ils sont “longs et fins” et tous leurs jeux transforment le gras des chatons en muscle ! Un groupe très affectueux et plein de vie ! (more…)

Les Bébés de Luthien à 8 Semaines!

Quelquefois, nous avons l’impression qu’il y a des bébés léopards dans le lit ! Regarder ces chatons quand ils jouent, nous surprennent encore et encore, ils se comportent comme de vrais sauvages ces ” léopardeaux”. Heureusement, en dépit de leur apparence sauvage, ils sont doux comme du sucre quand leur niveau d’énergie retombe. Tôt le matin on les trouve ronronnant sous nos mentons. Une très magnifique et inoubliable façon de se réveiller ! Nous la recommandons fortement ! Si vous êtes prêt pour les photos de cette semaine, les voici ! (more…)

Les Chatons de Luthien à 5 Semaines!

In one week the kittens have completely adjusted to their new surroundings in our bedroom with mom (Luthien). The last 2 weeks of athletic training have been successful, and now all 3 kittens know how to climb up on the bed. While Luthien politely sleeps on top of my feet, her 3 babies are likely to sleep on our heads, beneath our noses or wedged between pillows. Everyone is growing and developing well. Raw chicken has been completely incorporated into the diet, and mom’s milk is just a wonderful and tasty “security blanket”. Getting up in the middle of the night (for the humans), now requires turning on the bedroom light to avoid stepping on nocturnal kittens at play… Meanwhile, as there was a moment between rain storms — the kittens profited to have their photos taken outside in the garden! Les Chatons d’Aphrodite à 8 Semaines!

Prendre des photos de ces chatons sur un canapé ? Impossible ! Ces petits chatons ne restent pas longtemps en place devant un objectif ! Alors c’est le temps d’une nouvelle stratégie : un par un, chaque chaton a été présenté sur notre table de bistro à l’extérieur dans le jardin. Avec autant de nouvelles choses à voir, sentir et les sons à identifier, j’ai eu juste le temps de prendre les photos ! Tous les chatons sont dans leur période “fuzzy”, couleur naturelle de camouflage (cela dure pendant le 4ème mois de leur vie) alors c’est difficile de voir leur robe – mais leurs taches continuent à se développer joliment aussi bien que leurs petits corps….
Venez voir ces ronrons, boules de duvet (mais MA PAROLE ! ne les laissez pas voir vos orteils nus !)
